His short fiction has been published online and in print, and he previously served as the military affairs reporter for the Northwest Florida Daily News. He received a BA in English Literature and History from St. Joseph's University, and has taken coursework towards a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of San Francisco.
